29th October 2019
Dear Friends of St Andrews Chorus
Up and coming very soon is The Coffee Morning, on Saturday 2nd November 2019 at 10am in the Town Hall. Coffee mornings are our major fundraising events, aiming each time for a target of £1000 to help keep the Chorus afloat. If you could help us exceed that sum, we would be so delighted. Please do come along. Should you have anything you would like to contribute such as baking, bottles, raffle prizes or plants we would also be most grateful. Once again, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society will sing while we serve coffee and cake. That is always an exhilarating experience.
Looking forward just another couple of weeks there is our Autumn concert in
Holy Trinity Church on Saturday 16th November at 7:30pm with a very special programme :-
Dvořák - Mass in D
Britten - Rejoice in the Lamb
Janáček - Otčenáš (The Lord's Prayer)
Mealor - A Welsh Prayer
With the refurbishment of the Younger Hall, Holy Trinity Church is a smaller venue for us, reflected in a programme without orchestra, and instead, harp and organ. The wonderful professionals leading us are :-
Catherine Hooper Soprano Lea Katherine Shaw Mezzo soprano
David Lynn Tenor Niall Kennedy Bass
Walter Blair Organ Sharron Griffiths Harp
Michael Downes Conductor
Tickets (£12) are only £10 for subscribed Friends, which includes priority seating towards the front reserved until 7:20pm for Friends. Please contact me and I will get tickets to you, or at firstname.lastname@example.org or https://standrewschorus.weebly.com/tickets.html (The Byre does not have tickets.)
In the Spring (please note the day: Sunday 5th April 2020) we will join with
Dundee Choral Union and the Scottish Opera Orchestra to sing Verdi’s Requiem in
Dundee Caird Hall. What a tremendous sound that will be!
If you have not already subscribed for this season 2019 - 2020 I wonder if you would consider renewing your subscription as a Friend of the Chorus?
(We are always hoping for new Friends; please encourage someone you know who might be interested.)
