How can I join the choir?
We are a 'town and gown' choir with about 150 singers, including students. If you can 'hold a tune', you are most welcome to join us and enjoy the musical and social activities of the choir. It is not necessary to be able to sight read music, you do not have to audition, and we provide the scores. Just turn up at any rehearsal, or, for more information, please send us an email using the 'Contact Us' screen. We shall get back to you as quickly as possible.
Rehearsals are on Friday evenings from 7.00 to 9.15 pm in the main lecture theatre in the University Physics Department (door shuts at 7.15), in St Andrews.
Dates of the rehearsals, in the 1st part of the 2017/2018 season, are from Friday, 15th September. We will keep you updated via our weekly newsletter. See the rehearsals page for more details of our current concert performance.
Most of the Choir's members are resident in St Andrews, Scotland, but some come from neighbouring towns, and students at the University of St Andrews are especially welcome.
The subscription for a whole year is £75 for non-students and £20 for students, which provides your music and helps support the Chorus costs (including hiring professional soloists and orchestra, and paying for our conductor and accompanist). We also benefit from some singing tutoring.
Please note that for the second semester alone the fees are £40 for non students and £12 for students
If you wish to join us, simply come along on one of the first rehearsal evenings, fill out a registration form and pay the subs, collect your music and find a seat. There are plenty of people to guide you when you arrive. Don't panic if you can't make the first rehearsal...we know some will not be in town. Hopefully, the joining administration you will find very easy...and we do so hope you can join us.
